Our whole purpose of IMBC is to interact with other clubs, create additional friendships, learn from others, and build a stronger state organization. I have already spoken with FORC, Friends of Off Road Cycling, and they have agreed to host our meeting and are excited to meet and interact with us. By combining our two meetings it will give us an opportunity to meet other state representatives from the DNR, and create new contacts. This is a great opportunity to have some fun, ride some new and different trails, and do some networking with FORC. _www.americantrails.org_ (http://www.americantrails.org/) Thank you, Wayne Mikes -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I'm hoping we can make head-way into some of these "trail" groups to really help them understand what "mountain biking" is all about. Seems I go to TriCounty Greenways and Trails meetings and TRAIL is defined as "wide as a road, but you just can't take your car on it" and a MOUNTAIN BIKE is what you use to ride rails to trails.. I feel like the lone gray hair on some 30-something's head, when I'm at these meetings....(what?? am I growing a thrid eye??? why is everyone staring at me???) Anyway....I didn't get to ride Sylvan Island during the race this year, so I'll look forward to getting up there and riding it...and hangin' with my IMBC brahs. We'd appreciate any support we can get from our IMBC friends. FORC could also provide some housing or camping help to any one coming in from your IMBC group. IMBA will be riding with us on the Thursday ride & hopefully on the 2 Saturday rides. Let me know if you need more information. I will be working with the symposium under the guise of Illinois Trails Conservancy Board Member and would love to get in on some MTB action. I will be proposing to do a presentation on mountain biking for the syposium if there is still time to get in on the presenting (just a matter of getting myself and time schedule in sync to make it happen). I have worked with IMBA, IMBC, and MTB advocacy in IL and will help any way I can now that I have (mentally) committed myself to being at the Symposium. I live in Macomb currently so getting up to the Quad area to coordinate with you all would be just a matter of scheduling.

Anytime between now and October. As for doing a mountain biking presentation: it may be too late to do your own, but I'm more then happy to help you if you want to work with us on our trial experiences. We have a trail ride at Loud Thunder on Thursday, and two of our in town trails on Sat during the symposium. They want the experiences to be educational. If you want some input on riding or trail planning and building, we could use your help. Please share your ideas and visions... They could be included as support crew vs signing up as participants. As we approach the event, be sure to send me a list of IMBC participants. However, if they choose to support the the National Trail Symposium, it would only cost them $15. I don't see a dime of that. Again, my offer to host the IMBC group holds. I could easily house 4 in my home + anyothers that wanted to camp either in my yard or out at the park. My home would be much closer to convention activities & food sources. Please extend my offer to the IMBC clan. I'm certain other FORC members would be willing to host a few riders as well. Please feel free to contact our club President , John Blair, or myself, anytime the IMBC group wants to test the trails in the QC area. We'd love to take you guys for a ride.
